Anti stigma group pt.2

The Vancouver anti stigma group held it's second meeting and they seem to have found a way to get some funding from somewhere as there are plans to create ads promoting better understanding between the public and the addict community.Those of us that have been involved in the struggle are always tentative when new groups come along but I personally feel we can use all the help we can get.So many groups have come and gone,which is no surprise when you consider we are a group operating on the fringes of society and many of our members are under constant threat of imprisonment.VANDU is doing something with the Harper government's mail outs that called on the public to rise up and throw all addicts in prison or until they accept treatment.Never mind there is currently no treatment program with a success rate above the margin of error.My experience is with opiate addiction and I have no idea what the success rate is with crack or methamphetamine.The NAOMI project released it's findings and they were exactly as I predicted they'd be.It's a no brain er that a person with a disease will respond to the cure for that disease.Why heroin is different from insulin or Prozac or Ritalin or any number of powerful and necessary drugs is totally beyond me.Then again,it's not impossible to imagine this current bunch in Ottawa taking such drugs away and recommending prayer instead.
